The Islington micro-flat project sought to turn a tired single storey studio flat within a converted Victorian property into a highly flexible and comfortable one bedroom flat for a couple on a tight budget.
Minimising structural alterations, the kitchen was relocated to an open plan living area, and the bathroom reconfigured to create a good sized bedroom. Flexibility was created through creative bespoke joinery solutions. The coffee table converts to a large dining table, and the dining chairs can be stored within the kitchen cabinetry. Bespoke built-in storage solutions (inside the bed, above the bathroom) and an all-white interior helped to maintain a spacious minimalist interior. The entire flat was sound-proofed to modern standards.
