Eaglemont House, Victoria
The project involved close collaboration with our Australian clients at concept stage to redesign an important early 20th-century Federation-style home on a steep site in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The aim was to transform the property into a contemporary family residence while respecting and celebrating the history of the house and its landscape. Through careful consideration of the scale and texture of the historic structure, simple design interventions enabled significantly improved living spaces with strong connections to both immediate and distant landscapes, alongside enhanced solar prospect and thermal performance. A new shipping-container-style pool was cantilevered in front of the house on concrete piles to minimise excavation and create a striking new focal point for the site.
